J.D. Project Rentals is one of the leading rental property developers in north Denver. We have many properties in Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, and especially in Westminster.
On those properties there are many, many different kinds of trees, and so over the years and decades we have learned a great deal about tree care. And today we would like to focus this blog on that question—the question of tree care—specifically on the question of tree care in Westminster, Colorado. We are entitling the post “Westminster tree care CO.”
We have tried many tree care companies in Westminster over the years. Some were better than others, but one was better than all the rest. That one was Westminster Tree Care (www.westminstertreecare.com).
Westminster Tree Care was founded by a man named Kohji Morita. He was a young Japanese man from California who was interred in Utah during the Second World War. At the end of the war he was released from the camp, and made his way to Denver, ultimately settling in Westminster.
He had been a tree care specialist all his life, having learned the trade from his father, a first-generation Japanese immigrant from Sendai in northern Japan.
Kohji started his company with one beat-up old truck and two power saws. But he was so good at what he did that word quickly started getting around, and by 1951, when he was 33 years old, he had three trucks and 19 employees.
Kohji’s company kept growing over the years, and today it is one of the largest tree care services in the state of Colorado, with fifteen trucks and 75 employees.
They are known far and wide as the best tree care people in north Denver, because they were all personally trained by Kohji.
Kohji, by the way, is still with the company, although he doesn’t climb to the top of tall trees anymore. He’s 98 years old now, but he still shows up at the office everyday, and personally hires all new employees.
Tomorrow we’ll have more to say about Westminster Tree Care and the man who created it: Kohji Morita.
